AwarenessMost people would rather sleep walk through life than have to recognize they are not happy. It takes courage to acknowledge that you are not satisfied with your life and that you want to create more happiness and joy.

Have you seen the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt? Do you remember the very beginning of the movie when Angelina and Brad are seeing a couples therapist? They go home and live a fake life and then they both wake up the next morning and go to work as assassins all day.

Leading this double life causes both of them to be miserable in their marriage. Why? Because it’s not authentic and they aren’t being themselves. Then by accident, they each discover what the other one does for a living. There is a period of turmoil following this discovery, and then, before you know it, they are on the same team and more closely bonded than they’ve ever been before.

What causes this big change? Awareness.

If they hadn’t gotten this awareness, they might have spent the rest of their days living a fake, double life. Each were playing a part for the other. Each feeling lost and sad on the inside while trying to appear happy and content on the outside.

If you’re anything like me, rather than waiting to be discovered “by accident”, you are taking the first steps to creating your ideal life.
